COVID-19 Update from Boxing BC
British Columbia, May 6, 2020
Boxing BC continues to closely monitor the COVID-19 situation and the impacts on our Sport.
With the news of Premier Horgan planning to slowly “reopen the Province”, many of you are wondering how this will affect Boxing and our return to Sport.
There is definitely work to be done before we will be given any go ahead to reopen clubs and recommence training.
The Government is providing all Provincial Sport Organizations with a set of Guidelines outlining the measures and requirements for reopening. It will then be each Sports’ responsibility to develop our own Sport Specific Guidelines which align with the Government’s requirements and submit them to the Provincial Government for approval. Return to Sport will be a phased approach. Phase one will focus on skill development / training. Return to competition is not yet on the table.
That said, as we move forward to determine our guidelines for the safe re-opening of our clubs, we recognize that while we may see a return training in the near future, we are very unlikely to see a return to competition before the fall so Boxing BC is extending the suspension of all Boxing BC events up to August 31st, 2020. Please contact the office to tentatively reschedule your effected events.
As always, as the situation evolves, we will determine what changes to these measures will be required.
Please refer to our webpage www.boxing.bc.ca for updates and links to relevant and current information.
Stay safe and wishing you good health.
